Dentists in Milwaukee are becoming increasingly important in the battle over dental care, and they’re finding that the insurance companies they rely on for coverage have stopped covering their services.
Dr. Paul King of Milwaukee’s Children’s Dentistry is an example.
He says his insurance company stopped paying for dental work he did for patients after they filed lawsuits over the deaths of their children in 2014.
“They did a full investigation, and then they stopped paying me,” said Dr. King, who is also a family physician.
“I had to go to a different insurance company.”
Dr. King says he was told that because he did not have a business card, he could not be reimbursed.
He and his wife, Jennifer, had to apply for reimbursement from the Department of Children’s Services.
“My insurance company said, ‘No, that’s ridiculous.
We can’t reimburse you for your work because you don’t have a card,'” said Dr
