Abilene, Texas, police have arrested a man who is accused of killing his wife and another person with a car crash that left a body on a forest hillside.
The arrest warrant obtained by The Associated Press says 46-year-old Robert Dominguez is charged with capital murder, vehicular manslaughter and vehicular assault.
He is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.
Dominguez and his wife, Maria Peralta, were traveling on Forest Hill Road in the town of Arbuckle, about 30 miles southeast of Abilane, when the crash happened late Saturday afternoon.
The vehicle they were traveling in had been totaled, and they had been driving back to the home they shared in Abiladez when the wreck occurred, the warrant says.
Peralta died at the scene.
The other person killed was identified as 37-yearold Luis M. Peralts, a neighbor who lived across the street.
The crash left two people dead and four others injured.
Pablo Martinez Monsivais, who lives across the road, said he saw his wife on the ground and Meralta running out of the house.
He said he rushed to help her, and he saw Meraltas body go down a hillside and his head go down the hillside, Monsivaises wife said.
Meralts body was on a dirt road in the middle of the street, Monsivis said.
The Peralsts’ house was on the side of the road that was hit by the wreck.
The front door was open and there was no one there to get the door closed, Monsivas said.
The door was closed when they were going back into their home.
They were looking for some food that they had, he said.
I was able to grab his wife’s body and put it in the car.
I got it out of there and I went back inside to find out what happened.
He was the one who was trying to help, Monsivoises wife, Meralita Peralt said.
She was the last person I saw alive.
My husband was dead.
He’s my baby.
He will be in heaven.
I hope that’s the last time he comes out of heaven.
